Meet and Greet: Registration - 11:00 a.m.
Humanist Hall, 390 27th Street (Telegraph and Broadway), Oakland
A. Targets of FBI and Grand Jury Political Repression - Starts promptly at 12:00 noon to 1:30 pm
Speeches by Anh Pham, Hatem Abudayyeh, Thistle Parker-Hartog, Tom Burke, raided or served subpoenas by the FBI, and attorney Bruce Nestor of the National Lawyers’ Guild. Discuss the significance of the case for our groups and movements.
B. Fund Raising and Solidarity - 1:30 to 1:45 pm
Plan for you or your group to make a public donation or pledge, and show solidarity with the 23 activists subpoenaed by U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald’s Grand Jury in Chicago.
C. Panel: “Speak out Against Repression”--past and present - 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm
Michel Shehadeh of the Los Angeles 8 & Committees for Justice – Organizing to Defend the Palestinian Movement
Richard Brown of the San Francisco 8 – FBI Repression of the African-American Community and the Grassroots Response
Zahra Billoo of Council on American-Islamic Relations – The Attacks on Muslim Charities and Community Leaders
Nina Farnia of the Impact Fund – The Relationship Between U.S. Foreign Policy and Domestic FBI Repression
George McKinney, Southern California Immigration Coalition – Organizing to Oppose Raids and Deportations
D. Planning and Organizing - Local and National
3:00 to 3:15 pm: Action Plan. Proposal from CSFR
3:15 to 4:00 pm: Breakout Sessions
4:00 to 4:30 Clean up and prepare hall for next group
5:30 – 10PM: Post Conference Dinner and Party at Saturn CafĂ© in Berkeley, 2175 Allston Way, near downtown Berkeley BART station (dinner and drinks will be for sale off the restaurant menu)
There will be a literature table for free materials and fliers. Newspaper or other sales will take place outside the hall. Approved media is welcome to film and cover the event. Bring your friends and prepare to give generous donations from individuals or groups.
