2010-12-23 "A chance at a bike" published by "Vallejo Times Herald" newspaper
An anonymous donor generously gave Solano County Friends of Animals six new bicycles. Friends of Animals in turn will be giving these bikes away to kids under 18 in our community. The bikes are sized for 5 feet and taller. To enter a drawing for one of these bicycles please send a letter stating why you need a bicycle, who you are and how old, and include a story about an animal in your life (past, present or future). These bikes are a mix of road and hybrid/comfort style bikes. Please, these are only for those under 18. Send your letters before Friday to: Solano County Friends of Animals, P.O. Box 235, Benicia, CA, 94510. Any and all donations are more than welcome. Help us help the animals. Jill Brown Treasurer Elect-Solano County Friends of Animals Vallejo

New Year's Eve Anarchist Bike Bloc at Critical Mass, Followed by DIY Party
Friday, December 31 from 6 p.m. onward, San Francisco
Starting at Justin Herman Plaza, winding through San Francisco, & ending in the Mission's public space Join the festive convergence of Critical Mass & New Year's Eve!
Let's reclaim not only the public space of San Francisco but also social space with each other to kick off 2011 as a new, better year for self-organization, autonomy, mutual aid, & all that good stuff.
Meet up with anarchists and other antiauthoritarians at the juncture of Market Street & Justin Herman Plaza for an anarchist bike bloc within Critical Mass (black flags and variations thereof appreciated).
After cycling our way through the city and ending up in the Mission, let's create a do-it-ourselves celebration in, say, Dolores Park &/or some other imaginative spot.
Spread the word! Join the fun! Let's make merry together!
